Montréal has recently been named the number one destination in North America for hosting international conventions. Montréal finished ahead of other major destinations — such as Toronto, New York and Chicago — with 76 events held at Palais des congrès de Montréal, major universities, local hotels and other cutting-edge event venues across the city.
According to the ranking by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the conferences and summits of 2016 drew 37,000 delegates to Montréal, 21 percent more than the nearest competitors.
Beyond the numbers of events and delegates, Montréal also continues to score well in terms of visitor satisfaction. Of the leisure and business travellers who have visited Montréal, 97 percent indicated that they would recommend the city to colleagues and contacts. (Poll conducted by the Ipsos research firm.)
