Programme

Using standardized tests for English proficiency

Date – 15 September 2023
Time – 14:00 – 15:00
Location – Auditorium 6/7, CCL

Some Australian and UK youth travel programs require a standardized English test with a minimum CEFR score to be eligible for a visa. The USA requires either a standardized test, an interview or a letter from a teacher. More and more USA J1 sponsors are using standardized English tests to show employers and host families the level of English. But it is not required across the board. Join this discussion for an understanding of techniques if a sponsor is anti-testing, what sponsors who use the tests think and how it supports them, and where the rules are going in different countries around English proficiency.
