Some Australian and UK youth travel programs require a standardized English test with a minimum CEFR score to be eligible for a visa. The USA requires either a standardized test, an interview or a letter from a teacher. More and more USA J1 sponsors are using standardized English tests to show employers and host families the level of English. But it is not required across the board.
