Seminar preview: Sustainable destination development moderated by Carlos Vogeler
In this seminar, moderator Carlos Vogeler from the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), and panellists will discuss the importance of designing and implementing a strategic sustainable destination framework that aligns both marketing and policy, targets the youth travel sector, and drives positive outcomes for the destination.
Meet the speakers
Mr Vogeler has held various management positions at Pullmantur, RCI and Wyndham Worldwide and has been with the UNWTO since 2008.
Mr Vogeler is a professor at Rey Juan Carlos University in the department of business economics and the author of various text books on international tourism structure.
Kate has a diverse background in tourism marketing, communications and research, and recognises the high potential Millennials represent for Canada. She is Destination Canada’s Millennial Program Manager responsible for the execution of Canada’s tourism youth marketing strategy.
Daniella Sachs is Sustainable Travel International’s Lead Advisor, Africa Region. She spearheads the regional alliance Destination Coalition of Africa, which focuses on developing tourism opportunities that foster economic growth and promote conservation.
Mariette du Toit-Helmbold is an international destination marketing and tourism thought leader, as well as a writer and public speaker on tourism, responsible tourism, destination marketing, brand innovation and digital strategy.
