Director & Founder, Plan My Gap Year

Philip Russell is the Director and Founder of Plan My Gap Year (PMGY), a UK-based volunteer travel organisation that provides structured, safe, and affordable volunteer programs across Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. Since launching PMGY as a university project in 2011, Philip has grown the organisation into one of the most trusted and accessible platforms in the youth travel and international volunteering space. His hands-on leadership has helped connect thousands of students, school leavers, and graduates with impactful experiences that build confidence, develop global awareness, and promote social responsibility.

Over the past decade, Philip has travelled extensively to establish and maintain long-term partnerships with local teams, NGOs, and educational institutions. A commitment to affordable travel, outstanding support, and cultural exchange has driven his work. He continues to collaborate with universities, colleges, and local communities to support PMGY’s work. Philip brings a student-first, practical, and experience-based approach to everything he does.
