How to meet participant expectations for internships and work abroad placements

Date – Friday, 26 September
Time – 14:00 – 14:20
Location – Workshop area, CCL

In this session we will explore practical strategies to meet and exceed participant expectations in international internships and work placements.

Aplav Saxena of STEP Beyond Borders will share actionable insights on how to understand participant goals early through pre-arrival orientation and transparent communication. You will also learn how to align placements with skills and aspirations and ensure cultural preparedness through targeted training and mentorship.

Drawing from STEP Beyond Borders’ comprehensive support model, this session will highlight how to deliver a well-rounded experience that fosters both professional development and meaningful cultural exchange.

Attendees will leave with a clear framework for designing programmes that prioritise participant wellbeing, build cross-cultural competence, and create lasting impact beyond the placement period.
