Programme

Curation and the future of youth travel

Date – Wednesday, 24 September
Time – 14:20 – 15:00
Location – Auditorium 5, CCL

Curation? Isn’t that about stuffy old museums with old stuff?

Not anymore. Curation has moved out of the museum and onto the street, into curated retail and into a raft of curated websites.

Why is that then?

These days there is so much stuff to choose from that consumers want or need help in choosing. Help is coming from travel curators, influencers, algorithms and from fellow travellers curating their social media feeds.

Sounds interesting – how can I learn more?

Join us at WYSTC, where you will hear from curators of travel accommodation, solo trips and destination events. We will discuss different types of curation – expert curation, algorithmic curation and social curation – and the effects these are having and will have on the future of youth travel. Greg Richards will give an overview of the different types of curation and their effects, including the growth of TikTok queues in Amsterdam.

Curation is becoming increasingly important as a means of influencing consumer choices – join us for a discussion on how young travellers are choosing from the vast array of experiences on offer.
