Head of International Relations and Project Development, The Green Lion

Francis Altena joined The Green Lion group 5 years ago in 2014. After completing his two BAs; one in International Business Management and another in Cultural Anthropology & Development Sociology, Francis continued his studies to obtain a MA in Asian Studies. While backpacking in Asia after his studies he found the perfect career opportunity and job position with The Green Lion, touching every aspect of all three study majors and his passions.

The Green Lion Group operates a broad scope of more than 300 meaningful (youth) travel programs (full board) in the fields of social/service learning projects (volunteering), cultural exchange/immersion, adventure, conservation, internships, education, road trips and languages in over 40 different countries across Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe and Central- and South America.

During his first four years, Francis was in charge of operations with The Green Lion and during that time gained a lot of know-how and experience about all that happens on the ground. Francis currently serves as the Head of International Relations and Project Development, working closely with the international partner agencies, establishing new partnerships as well as developing new groundbreaking, sustainable and impactful projects and meaningful travel programs.
