Be a part of the WYSTC 2015 local volunteer project
Get your hands dirty at WYSTC and make a positive impact in an underprivileged community while working together with children to green their school, nursery, or community centre during this years local volunteer project – organised by the WYSE Work and Volunteer Abroad Volunteer Working Group!
This years local volunteer project is organised in conjunction with Greenpop – The social enterprise that, since its establishment in 2010 has planted over 45,000 trees across South Africa and Zambia.
Greenpop plants trees through urban greening and reforestation projects, spreads environmental awareness, and activates people through green festivals and workshops.
Join us on our tree planting day
Date: Tuesday, 22 September 2015
Time: 08:30 – 12:30 (final time schedule will be provided closer to the date)
Pick-up location: Southern Sun The Cullinan – Outside the entrance
This year a very small financial contribution is required to sponsor the trees that will be planted (ZAR 120 per tree, which is just under EUR 8.50).
Please note that you can purchase as many trees as you like, whether you will be attending the event or not, in fact WYSE Work and Volunteer Abroad and Greenpop are encouraging all of the WYSTC 2015 delegates to sponsor trees to compensate for their travel carbon footprints created from attending the conference. Greenpop will plant them on your behalf in Africa’s southernmost indigenous forest.
