World Youth and Student Travel Conference hosts the 2012 Global Youth Travel Awards!
The Global Youth Travel Awards formally recognise outstanding performers in several fields of international youth travel and reward WYSE Travel Confederation members who contribute so much to our industry and our community.
Prizes will be awarded at the Industry Awards Luncheon during WYSTC at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina on Friday 21 September 2012.
Participate by celebrating the people who made a difference in your world. WYSE Travel Confederation members are invited to submit entries in the categories described below. Submissions for the Global Youth Travel Awards are now open.
Award Categories
Award 1: WYSE Travel Confederation Extraordinary Experience
Eligibility: WYSE Travel Confederation Member Organisation
Concept: Please nominate a young person who has had an extraordinary overseas experience through your organisation. Examples might include a young person who has volunteered or worked in Africa, climbed the Himalayas, learnt an exotic language or engaged in a valuable way with another culture.
To enter, submit a one-page summary of the Extraordinary Experience alongside some visual evidence such as photos or video to: awards@wysetc.org. Short listed entries may be asked to provide further information. (Please enter ‘Experience Award’ in the subject of your email submission).

Award 2: WYSE Travel Confederation Innovation in Marketing
Eligibility: WYSE Travel Confederation Member Organisation
Concept: We are looking for an innovative and successful marketing campaign, online sales initiative or use of technology that your organisation has developed, which can be inspiring to other youth travel organisations. This might be a clever advertising campaign, an innovative way of engaging with your customers, a ground-breaking Facebook campaign or even a successful harnessing of mobile technology.
To enter you will need to submit a one-page summary of your Innovation in Marketing alongside some visual evidence such as photos or video and also evidence of its success to: awards@wysetc.org. (Please enter ‘Innovation Award’ in the subject of your email submission).

Award 3: WYSTC App Yap
Eligibility: Open to all
Concept: We’re searching for the best app in the youth travel industry – could it be yours? App Yap refers to the chance for the Top 10 Finalists to present their respective apps at WYSTC for five minutes to fellow delegates and organisations.
Entry: The contest will officially open on 1 May 2012, but you can view all the apps in the 2011 line-up here!
Deadline: Votes must be entered by 19 September 2012 at Midnight CET
Award 4: STAY WYSE Green Initiative
Eligibility: Youth Travel Accommodation Providers
Concept: In recent years, accommodation providers and travellers alike are becoming more concerned with the impact of travelling in both the physical and social environment and making a conscious effort to reduce this impact by making more eco-friendly choices.
Through the Green Initiative Award, STAY WYSE would like to recognise the organisation they feel is doing the most year on year to reduce their environmental impact and make “green travel” an important part of their operational activities and encourage others to follow suit.

Award 5: WYSE Volunteer & Travel – Outstanding Volunteer Project
Eligibility: WYSE Travel Confederation Member Organisation
Concept: The award is looking to showcase volunteer projects that stand out through key characteristics, such as sustainability and responsibility, in this growing industry segment. Criteria and further details for this award can be found here.

Award 6: WYSE Work Abroad “Expand Your Horizons” Video Contest
Eligibility: WYSE Work Abroad Member Organisation
Concept: WYSE Work Abroad celebrates the many benefits of the work and volunteer abroad experience by hosting a video contest where young people can submit a video that shares their unique experience of working or volunteering abroad. One lucky participant will win US $2,000!
To enter, you will need to submit your entry to video@wyseworkabroad.org, noting your first and last name and the member organisation you are representing, along with the title and a link to your video. Only one entry is permitted per person. Full terms and conditions can be found here.
