WYSE Travel Confederation Association Seminars at WYSTC 2008
Associations under the WYSE Travel Confederation banner host a number of seminars at WYSTC. Below is an overview of some of the seminars they will be leading.
IASIS: Trends, Progress and the Future in Youth and Student Travel Insurance
IASIS, the International Association for Student Insurance Services, will lead presentations focusing on the situations and challenges facing professional insurers in the youth and student travel industry. How does the insurance industry adapt to cover the new risks and opportunities arising for distributors? What are the new trends in the travel insurance world? Has progress been made on critical medical evacuations? Learn the answers and more in this essential seminar for insurance distributors.
STAY WYSE: Business Metrics Study for the Youth Travel Accommodation Industry
The first ever business metrics study for the global youth travel accommodation industry establishes and explores crucial benchmarks that set standards for the industry such as sources of revenue, occupancy rates, market characteristics and industry trends
Leading Researcher, Greg Richards from Tourism Research and Marketing (TRAM) will reveal interesting findings from the report. For example, almost three quarters of the hostels surveyed increased their capacity in 2007 and more than 50% of their guests now stay in private rooms rather than shared dorms.
ISIC Seminars
1 - Co-brand partnerships - basics & case studies
Universities and financial institutions throughout the globe have proven to be key co-brand partners for the development and strengthening of the ISIC community. How to choose and approach potential partners? How to manage expectations and difficulties? We have invited a couple of ISIC Managers to share their success and experiences into what we believe to be a very interesting discussion for all Issuers.
2 - Card technologies, card ordering, production and distribution
Understanding the logistics behind order processing and delivery is essential for Issuers to plan their day-to-day activities effectively. Roxana Contreras, who is in charge of central Operations in the Amsterdam office, will be mediating this session which includes information about card technologies and some case studies.
3 - Hard Rock Café partnership - general information and update
*** Seminar held at Hard Rock Café Times Square Manhattan ***
ISIC’s very first global partnership started about 3 years ago with Hard Rock Café (HRC), which offers a special ISIC menu, queue jump and a free gift upon any purchase at their gift shops in the majority of its cafés around the world. Together with representatives from HRC we intend to update you on the status of this partnership, on local opportunities and discuss the joint marketing promotion of this appealing and popular ISIC benefit.
**** The seminar will be hosted at the Hard Rock Café at Times Square in Manhattan from 16:00 - 18:00
4 - MasterCard partnership - general information and update
ISIC is going through decisive times in its partnership with MasterCard, with two pilot projects being developed and several LA’s who have signed their enrolment agreements. It is the moment to think about how each market can maximise this extraordinary opportunity.
Enrolled LA’s will be talking about their markets and a representative from MasterCard, together with ISIC General Manager Martijn van de Veen, will be updating the ISIC Community on the status of the project as well as future plans.
5 - Microsoft DreamSpark partnership - general information and update
Another global partnership that is starting to deliver the first exciting results is the Microsoft DreamSpark project. ISIC is at a decisive moment where the local LA’s have started their involvement in the DreamSpark project, promoting the ISIC as key to the portfolio of software packages. A Microsoft representative will be talking about the current status of the project and we will also take the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on the promotion of this outstanding benefit amongst our current and potential cardholders.
6 - ISIC value proposition
Repositioning the ISIC as a true lifestyle card is a key development that has proven to increase card sales significantly. Some countries were pioneers in this transition and can now share with the rest of the community how they go about setting up appealing benefit partnerships that increase the value and visibility of the card.
7- ISIC online
ISIC is a global community with a strong presence on the Web. We are improving that presence even further with a number of online developments - including a new Website. This session will be about how we are using the Internet to further strengthen the ISIC brand, its services and its benefits, today and tomorrow, with examples presented by local ISIC managers.
